Personal Care
Choosing the right piercer
When considering getting your ears pierced, ensure you use a qualified ear piercer. They will guide you on the appropriate after care and the length of time required for your piercing before wearing regular earrings. Ear Sense earrings are not suitable for the piercing of ears.
Piercing hygiene
We recommend taking earrings out before showering / bathing as repeated exposure to gels and shampoos may tarnish and discolour your earrings.
Always ensure your hands are clean when inserting and taking out earrings. It is best to take out earrings before sleeping as they may get caught in materials. Try and store your earrings in a jewellery box or other storage unit to ensure the earrings stay as clean as possible.
Be aware of maintaining cleanliness of telephones, headphones, eyeglasses, helmets, hats and anything that contacts your ears. Use caution when styling your hair. This will ensure you enjoy wearing earrings.
Cleaning your earrings
Some earrings may become tarnished over time, we recommend wiping with a clean damp tissue or disposable paper product. Also your ear lobe piercing will need to be cleaned from time to time. This may happen as a result of sweating, makeup, hair and shower products. Again we recommend using a clean damp disposable paper product.
How to avoid shrinking piercings
Remember if you take out your earrings for a period of time that healed piercings can shrink or close in minutes after having been there for years! This varies from person to person; if you can, try and wear your earrings every day.
